Original:
I was sent a small collection of these Pre-Columbian burial beads which included carnelian with small pieces of jasper and jade, with a request to make it into a piece that was both attractive to wear, and honored the history and sanctity of the beads.
.
Finished piece:
I built the piece around 3 ancient moss-green beads from Hebron, a glass process from several thousand years ago, framed with antique Himalayan silver beads. To enhance the spiritual, I interspersed the carnelian beads with Tibetan mala prayer beads old yak bone with precious metals, coral and turquoise embedded within. In Tibet, the mala is used constantly with the mystic mantra Om Mani Padmi Hum, the jewel in the lotus, which brings in infinite energy. Finished with Afghani green jade stones and oxidized sterling silver toggle clasp.
The necklace surpasses my expectations. It is exquisite. My heart was pounding when I opened the package and saw how the beads from the burial urn had been transformed and enriched by the ancient glass beads from Hebron (where I visited on a mission to the Middle East about 5 years ago), the green jade from Afghanistan (a country that is part of our collective consciousness) and the various rosary beads and filigree beads from Tibet and Afghanistan. The qualities of heart chakra are exactly what I need for healing and renewal at this crossroads in my life. Thank you, Linda, for the time and care and healing gifts that went into the re-creation of the ancient necklace. I want to share that a couple of hours after I put the necklace on for the first time, I received a call that I was going to be offered the job I had interviewed for, and worked all year to secure. I had given up on the possibility that the offer would come. I am sure that they (the beads) had a role in todays events.
